David Mark Valentine, Jr. brings nearly two decades of legal experience to his practice, offering clients comprehensive representation in both civil and criminal matters. With a strong foundation in legal research, litigation, and courtroom advocacy, David has built a reputation for thoughtful strategy and client-first service.

David began his legal journey while still in law school, serving as a research assistant and teaching assistant at Southern University Law Center. His academic excellence and leadership in the classroom earned him a cum laude Juris Doctorate in 2005. He also contributed to legal scholarship by assisting professors with published research and case analyses.

Early in his career, David worked in the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, Criminal Division, where he prosecuted a wide range of offenses—from first-time DUIs to complex RICO violations and insurance fraud cases involving multiple defendants and jurisdictions across the state.

He later joined the Law Offices of Charles V. Genco, which became Genco·Valentine·Blunk, where he honed his skills as a trial attorney. In 2023, David joined the Law Office of Sonja T. Castella, continuing his general practice with a focus on criminal defense, successions, real estate disputes, boundary issues, personal injury, family law, and civil litigation. In 2024, he began working felony cases in Division “D” for the Public Defender’s Office in the 21st Judicial District.

David is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. He holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from Southeastern Louisiana University and is a graduate of Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge.

With a blend of courtroom experience, academic rigor, and community connection, David remains committed to protecting the rights and interests of clients throughout southeast Louisiana.
